On Monday October 1, 2007, the Nottingham Fire Company participated in a Search and Rescue / Ladders drill at the Mercer County Fire Academy. The drill was run by Dave Smolka (Chief 14/ TFD Capt.) and Bill Chyzck (Ft. Dix FD). A smoke simulator was used while crews practiced gaining access to a building through forcible entry and ladders on the second story. Thermal imaging cameras along with group searches were practiced as well. Mannequins and live people were used in practicing carrying a victim down a ladder.
